Hello and welcome to my little corner of cyberspace. My name is Boon and I'm a paladin, guild master of the Guardian Knights. There is much to tell about the GK's, how we are run, what we wish to accomplish, who we are, and it is here, along with some of my own postings, it will be discussed.
First, who are the Guardian Knights? We are a small guild (okay, tiny guild) of family-friendly, friendship-oriented Alliance players on the Alleria server in World of Warcraft. Our goals include leveling/questing groups, 5-man dungeon groups, Heroic groups, PvP groups, and all general activities that WoW has to offer. While we don't have raiding as a focus, given an opportunity that is convenient, it isn't something that will be completely forgotten. However, it should be understood that raiding is NOT an emphasis of the GK in general and if you're looking for that type of end-game content, we may not be the place for you. If you're looking for a friendly guild to group with, quest with, dungeon crawl with, and generally have a good time with, we might be.
We're run on a very simple Round Table system. Officers are elected by a popular vote of other officers, known as Guardians. You do not apply to become a Guardian, we approach you. Once a Guardian, always a Guardian, is our motto, so we're very careful about who becomes one. Each Guardian has the same rights and powers as the guild master (except for the few that only a GM can have) and have equal say in the guild's direction, policies, and events. While Guardians are few and far between, guild members may complete quests (after meeting specific criteria) to earn ranks in the guild that open up small (but hopefully meaningful) permissions. It is our hope that rank will not be seen as a "better than" attribute, but more just how much a part of the guild a particular player is. I'll post more on the rank system later.
While this guild has been around since close to launch, it has never had a higher active member list than, say, 20 players. We have small guild-run events that anyone who wishes can participate in. Typically these are just for fun events that will take a group of players to out of the way locations for some shenanigans, and perhaps some type of interesting loot is included in the activities. More on these later as well!
After becoming an official member of the GK, you may include any and all alts that you'd like in the guild to be invited. Each of these alts will also have a specific rank given to them based off of the criteria and quests you've completed. Official member status is given typically within the first two weeks of your invitation, although you do need to meet certain criteria first. For example, while we enjoy having players who are lower than level 20, and welcome any who wish to join up, you will be given "official" membership status when you reach level 20 and complete the quest to become a Squire, our lowest member rank. You are welcome to remain under level 20 for as long as you like, and exceptions can and will be made for players who might desire to remain lower level. Remember, as all things in the GK are, our rules are flexible and fair, or aim to be.
I will gladly answer questions public or private concerning how the Guardian Knights are run, and more posts in the future will address more specific things (such as how ranks work, the quests for ranks, etc., as well as guild events). If this sounds like it might be a guild you would find to your liking, please feel free to contact me via in-game mail. The name is Boon, I'm easy to find!

Okay... you have a blog. Does this mean I need to drop the Guildportal Page?
